
KUCHING, March 20: Political observer Datuk Peter Minos has warned irresponsible netizen against spreading fake news regarding to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).
He reminded that their irresponsible actions will cause anxiety, panic and confusion among others, especially considering the severity of the Covid-19 situation in the state.
“There are those who have bad intention to produce fake news and spread false information on the Internet. I really cannot understand why are they doing this, especially in this difficult time.
“Now is not a time to play around with the people’s emotion, as the public are already feeling the tension and fear due to Covid-19,” he said in a statement.
Minos advised netizen to exercise responsibility and accountability for their actions, adding that the authorities are monitoring those spreading fake news online.
“They will be caught and charged by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), as well as the police if they were to be caught doing so,” he continued. — DayakDaily
