STIDC launches new Ethics Complaint Service to address misconduct, criminal offences

KUCHING, July 30: Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) has officially launched an Ethics Complaint Service aimed at addressing issues of misconduct and criminal offences within the agency.

According to a press release, the launch ceremony, held yesterday (July 29) at Wisma Sumber Alam in Petra Jaya here was officiated by STIDC general manager Zainal Abidin Abdullah.

“This Ethics Complaint Service aims to receive complaints about misconduct related to disciplinary and criminal offences among agency members.

“Complaint Management is one of the core functions of STIDC’s Integrity Section, which is responsible for handling ethics complaints in line with the Sarawak State Integrity Circular No 2 of 2019.

“This circular outlines the Guidelines for Managing Integrity Units in State and federal public agencies,” the release stated.

Moreover, the Ethics Complaint Service is a crucial internal control measure in the fight against corruption, as specified in the MS ISO 37001:2016 Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS), and is in accordance with STIDC’s Whistleblower Policy.

With this service, STIDC emphasises its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy towards disciplinary and criminal offences, particularly related to corruption, misconduct, and abuse of power.

The service is supported by transparent, systematic, efficient, and fair processes for detecting and verifying complaints.
