STB intensifies visibility in domestic tourism market at Penang’s travel mart

STB is setting up a booth to promote Sarawak tourism at Penang's travel mart.

KUCHING, July 1: Malaysian holiday-goers looking for a quick getaway are welcomed to visit Sarawak Tourism Board’s (STB) booth at the the Malaysian International Travel Mart (MITM) 2022 in Penang to enjoy attractive and affordable tourism packages from July 2 to 3 at the SPICE Convention Centre.

Organised by the Malaysian Chinese Tourism Association (MCTS) from 10am to 9pm on both days, the travel fair is a good platform for Sarawak’s continuous strategy in gaining more visibility as a top-of-mind destination in the domestic market.

STB deputy chief executive officer for Marketing Communication, Research and Private Corporate Relations, Suriya Charles Buas, said that STB’s participation in MITM is timely as it is vital for Sarawak to maintain its visibility while promoting the rich land of Sarawak against the fascinating backdrop of history and mystery, culture, festivals, food and its unique tourism products to MITM visitors.

“This will help further amplify Sarawak’s presence in Penang, in continuation with the recent STB initiatives previously organised in Penang such as the ‘Sarawak A Journey Awaits Business Networking Session’ held in February 2022 and ‘Jom Ke Sarawak’ Roadshow with Tourism Malaysia in May 2022.

“Currently, there are 35 available direct flights from Penang weekly into Sarawak which will facilitate travellers from Penang to enjoy the best that Sarawak can offer,” he said in a statement today.

Participating travel agencies at STB’s MITM booth will be bringing exciting travel deals for eager travellers to Sarawak, with packages packages such as the Kuching City Tour, Mulu 4 Show Caves, Bako National Park, Golf Packages, Miri City Tour and Bario Highlands tours.

Visitors who purchase any of the promoted Sarawak travel packages throughout the two-day fair will be rewarded with limited-edition made-in-Sarawak souvenirs.

MITM is one of the most sought-after annual travel fairs for tour operators, national tourism organisations and travel trades and is a mega market place for different segments of tourism players to display their packages and promotions.

Over 200 booths will be featured at this year’s edition of MITM to help re-boost domestic tourism market recovery as the country moves forward towards the endemic phase of post Covid-19. — DayakDaily
