KUCHING, Jan 16: The state government has signed a term sheet with Petronas for an equity participation in Petronas LNG 9 Sdn Bhd (PL9SB) which owns the ninth liquefied natural gas (LNG) production train (Train 9) in Bintulu, Sarawak.
According to a press statement yesterday, Train 9 started its commercial operations in January 2017 with a production capacity of 3.6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), boosting the total output capacity of the Petronas LNG Complex to 30 MTPA.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and Petronas president and group CEO Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin.
Abang Johari said this augurs well for the good corporate relationship between the state and Petronas.
Representing the Sarawak government was State Financial Secretary Dato Sri Ahmad Tarmizi Sulaiman while Petronas was represented by its senior vice-president of corporate strategy Ir. M Firouz Asnan.Â
Also present at the ceremony were members of the Sarawak state cabinet, senior state government officials and Petronas’ senior management officials.
At the same event, a Memorandum of Understanding for a logistics collaboration between Petronas Chemicals Marketing Labuan (PCML) Ltd and Hubline Berhad was also signed, enabling Hubline Berhad to join PCML’s panel of transporters for petrochemical products.
The event underscores the long-standing partnership and collaboration between the state government and Petronas, particularly in developing and adding value to hydrocarbon resources in Sarawak. — DayakDaily
