KUCHING, Oct 15: The Sarawak government is looking to acquire a new building in Kuala Lumpur (KL) to provide accommodation for Sarawakian students studying in Peninsular Malaysia.
According to Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, he has spoken with Senior Works Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof regarding the matter.
“Maybe we will add one more building in Kuala Lumpur so that we can provide accommodation for our children with reasonable rates,” said Abang Johari during the question and answer session at the Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak 2022 programme held at the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Center (Mitec) in Kuala Lumpur today.
He added that the State government would have to identify a place first for the plan to materialise.
Meanwhile, Abang Johari said the Sarawak government would also consider providing a second allocation to subsidise students’ flight fares to return to Sarawak.
“If the student requests it for the second time, we will try to fulfil it,” he said. — DayakDaily
