KUCHING, May 9: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg presented a RM1 million grant to Tadika Methodist Chinese, which was received by Datuk Tiong Thai King on its behalf.
The event took place at Abang Johari’s office at Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) yesterday when a mock cheque for RM1 million was handed over from the former to Tiong who is both Dudong assemblyman and Sibu Municipal Council chairman.
Also present was John Ting Sik Kang, the chairman of Tadika Methodist Chinese.
Later the same afternoon, Abang Johari received a courtesy call by Urusetia Saudara Kita (USK) Sungai Asap / Koyan, Belaga led by Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon.
During the half-hour meeting, Abang Johari and the USK delegation discussed on ways to upgrade the infrastructure in the area including the mosque to accommodate the increase of population within the area and also other related issues.
Meanwhile, prominent architect Dato Sri John Lau Kah Sieng, Director of Arkitek KDI Sdn. Bhd. paid a courtesy call on Abang Johari at the latter’s office at DUN on Tuesday

During the half-hour meeting, Lau complimented the Chief Minister’s farsightedness in aggressively developing the state’s IT capability to propel Sarawak into 5G territory.
They also discussed matters pertaining to the tourism industry, transport and planning where Abang Johari shared his vision for Kuching to become a smart city. — DayakDaily
