MIRI, Oct 18: The State government has approved a RM100,000 allocation to upgrade facilities at the Borneo Evangelical Mission (BEM) Church in Jalan Airport here.

The upgrades include awning installations on buildings.

The allocation for the project would be disbursed via Assistant Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Sebastian Ting-cum-Piasau assemblyman’s Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) allocation.

“The installation works of the church awning will commence once the tendering process is completed within this year,” said Ting when met after visiting the church this morning.

The BEM Church situated at Jalan Airport has been the beneficiary of RTP funds and grants from the Unit for Other Religious (Unifor) since the building was completed in 2015.

In 2020, the church received financial aid, twice in the form of grants from Unifor amounting to RM100,000.

Meanwhile, in August this year, the church was given more than RM300,000 worth of allocations under Ting’s RTP.
