KUCHING, Dec 4: Sarawak federal civil servants will receive a RM500 financial incentive in recognition of their services to the state.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, when making the announcement at the State Civil Service Day assembly here today, said the bonus would be channelled by June 2020.

The special aid would complement the RM500 one-off payment for civil servants ranked Grade 54 and below, as announced in the national Budget 2020, that would be disbursed by year-end.

Abang Johari said the additional RM500 incentive would benefit some 95,000 Sarawak civil servants in federal agencies.

“I have discussed with the state Cabinet and we agreed that our federal civil servants ā€” many of whom are teachers, health officers, police personnel and especially those giving service to the rural areas ā€” should get an incentive like their state counterparts.

“With RM500 from the state, RM500 from the federal government, they should get RM1,000,” he said

Abang Johari, at the recent Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting, announced a bonus of two months’ basic salary or a minimum of RM2,000 for state civil servants.

The bonus is expected to be given out on Dec 18. ā€” DayakDaily
