KUCHING, Nov 7: Dayakdaily journalists Karen Bong and Nancy Nais have grabbed the Gold trophy of the Chief Minister Awards English category in the 32nd Kenyalang Journalism Awards 2020.
Their four-part series feature that outshined all the other entries in the English category was entitled “Female firefighters are real-life wonder women”.
The same news feature was also the Gold Winner of Journalism Award English category.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg did the honour of presenting the trophy to the winners for the category at Imperial Hotel last night.
Federation of Sarawak Journalists Association chairman Jacqueline Radoi David, who is also the organising chairperson of the Kenyalang Awards 2020, said the number of entries submitted in this term is the highest among other years.
There were about 550 entries as compared to 320 entries last year.
Besides attaining the glory of the highest award in Kenyalang Awards, Karen Bong and Wilfred Pilo also bagged the Gold trophy for the News Reporting Journalism Award English category with their news article on “Electric bus marks milestone in Sarawak transportation history”.
Adding on, Nancy also won a silver in the Community Wellbeing and Rural Development Journalism Award English category with a story titled “Enduring a hard life for their children’s sake”. -DayakDaily
