St Thomas Cathedral bells to ring in support of Covid-19 frontliners

The St Thomas Cathedral church bell will be rung at 8.30pm for 10 minutes on March 22, 2020.

KUCHING, March 22: The St Thomas Cathedral bells will be rung for 10 minutes from 8.30pm tonight in support of all the frontliners such as doctors, nurses, medical personnel and essential workers who are working their hearts out to fight Covid-19.

The Bishop of the Anglican Church in Sarawak and Brunei, the Right Reverend Datuk Danald Jute has called on all Anglicans to stand by their doors or balconies to show their support and gratitude with the ‘power of sound’.

“Let us all sincerely thank our medical staff and essential workers. They are risking their own lives and of their loved ones, so that ours are safe. We salute them.

“So let us show them our sincere gratitude and support tonight, with the power of sound,” Danald said in a Facebook post.

However, he urged members of the public to refrain from going to the cathedral as the country is now under Restricted Movement Order (RMO) from March 18 until 31 to contain the spread of the virus. — DayakDaily
