KUCHING, Aug 27: The 25 St Peter’s pre-schoolers of Kampung Simpok, Padawan, received a pleasant surprise when reporting to school today, as their classrooms had new flooring.
The floor surface of their classrooms, which was severely cracked with broken bits of concrete that was also exposed, had to be covered with plastic mats by the school authority since 2016.
Recently, the school’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA) alerted local NGO, Pertubuhan Habitat Indigenous Daerah Untuk Pemulihan (Hidup), of the classroom condition.
Hidup president, George Young Si-Ricord Junior immediately contacted Kimgress and CMS Cement for the necessary materials to rectify the floor of the classrooms.
“Both these corporate organisations responded positively to our request by supplying tiles and cement bags for the school.
“The restoration of the floor surface with the laying of tiles were carried out by the PTA and the villagers of Kampung Simpok. With the completion of this restoration, both pupils and teachers will have a safe and conducive classrooms for their studies,” said George.
He added that Hidup will continue to provide assistance and positive change to the local communities’ needs. For further information, Hidup could be reached at 0111-8580528/0111-8990528. — DayakDaily
