Of the total amount, RM30,000 was channelled to the church building fund to support ongoing construction and upgrading works, RM15,000 was allocated for church community and welfare programmes, while RM3,000 was contributed towards the purchase of church server vests.

Speaking at the handover, Yap said places of worship are not only centres of faith, but also important pillars of social cohesion, charity and moral values within a multi-racial and multi-religious society like Sarawak.

“My role as a people’s representative is to serve all communities without distinction.

“Supporting places of worship and their community activities is part of ensuring that harmony, compassion and mutual respect continue to thrive in Kota Sentosa,” he said in a statement.

He added that the Sarawak government under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg continues to uphold an inclusive approach in providing assistance to all religious institutions.

Yap said he will continue to listen to grassroots needs and ensure government resources are channelled effectively, transparently and responsibly. — DayakDaily
