St Giles’ Anglican Church Batu Niah receives additional RM700k grant from Unifor for new building

MIRI, June 25: St Giles’ Anglican Church Batu Niah received an additional RM700,000 from the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) to support the ongoing construction of its new building.

The cheque was handed over by Bekenu assemblywoman Datuk Rosey Yunus, who is also the Deputy Minister of Women, Childhood, and Community Development Sarawak, at the churchā€™s construction site yesterday (June 24).

“The church committee has been advised to hold discussions and draft an application for additional provisions,” she said.

“Planning and drafts are important to ensure smooth progress, and the draft will be tabled at the meeting.”

The new funding brings the total Unifor allocation to the church to RM1 million, and the initial funding of RM300,000 was utilised effectively, as recorded in their financial report.

“The progress of the construction and design of the church has now reached 31.58 per cent,” Rosey said. ā€” DayakDaily
