KUCHING, Sept 25: Sarawak Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA) will organise the Asia for Animals (AfA) Sarawak Conference 2023 from Oct 11 to 14.
Supported by the Ministry of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government and Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak), the four-day conference will be held at Borneo Convention Center Kuching (BCCK) and Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to officiate at the event.
Themed ‘Education and Engagement Bring Change’, the conference is poised to be a pivotal event for animal welfare enthusiasts, professionals, and advocates across the continent.
Plenary Speaker representing the Animals Asia Foundation, Dave Neale, will present on the ‘Importance of Understanding Animal Capacities for Welfare’, shedding light on the critical role of comprehension in ensuring the well-being of animals across Asia.
āI hope that through this session, the audience in Sarawak will better understand the use of positive messages about animals’ lives and how it can help people better understand individual animals as well as how our behaviours impact their lives,ā he said.
Eighty-two speakers from 23 countries will be featured, providing a comprehensive programme for all delegates.
The conference will also accord 30 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points to support fostering professional growth and development of animal welfare.
