Sri Aman Hospital completion delayed until January 2020

KUCHING, Sept 27: The new completion date for Sri Aman Hospital will likely be in January 2020.

Works Minister Baru Bian informed that the completion of the Sri Aman Hospital has been delayed again with new target completion date in January next year.


“But I told them (contractors) that they better expedite the whole thing and there will be no more delay,” he said.

He was met after co-chairing the Third Meeting of the Action Council, a joint Sarawak-Federal Governments Action Committee to focus on development issues in the state, held at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today.

The hospital has experienced multiple delays since the project started in 2016 with the last scheduled completion date in August this year.

Baru also disclosed that the Lawas Hospital project, Miri Hospital project and Petrajaya Hospital project will all be be tendered out soon.

According to his officers, projects for Lawas Hospital and Miri Hospital will be tendered out this month while Petrajaya Hospital at the end of this year.

Meanwhile, on this morning’s meeting, Baru who is also Selangau MP and Ba’Kelalan assemblyman, pointed out that the meeting was one of the best meetings so far between Sarawak government and the federal government.

“It is one of the best meetings so far because we are looking at various updates of projects in Sarawak,” he said.

“I am very happy especially on the updates by the Secretary-General for health who came in to look at the clinics and hospitals in the whole of Sarawak,” he continued.

“We at looking at the weaknesses we have in the past and now, and we move forward as how to overcome these weaknesses and to implement the projects of health in the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP),” he added.— DayakDaily
