KUCHING, Aug 4: Sri Aman District has once again become a Covid-19 red zone while Julau District loses its green zone status after recording 56 cases and five cases respectively in the past 14 days.
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its daily update on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak today, reported that Sri Aman’s Covid-19 advisory level has been elevated from yellow zone to red zone.
This thus increased the number of districts in Sarawak in the red zones to 18 as of today.
Julau District, on the other hand, has joined eight other districts in the yellow zone.
This thus leaves only five districts still defending the green zone status to be safe and free from Covid-19. They are Lubok Antu, Matu, Marudi, Sebauh and Limbang.
Meanwhile, the SDMC also declared the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) on seven localities in Subis, Lubok Antu, Sri Aman and Kabong.
The localities placed under lockdown for two weeks are Rh Angut anak Anding at Ulu Keriok, Niah in Subis (Aug 3-17), Rh Gindy in Nyemungan of Lubok Antu (Aug 4-17) and Kampung Sesang in Kabong (Aug 5-19).
The three longhouses in Sri Aman under lockdown are Rh Gunong in Kampung Samak, Undop; Rh Lansam anak Kubu in Kampung Kandis Asal, Pantu; and Rh Laham anak Mada in Kampung Bangkong Engkabang, Pantu. The lockdown will be imposed from Aug 5 to 18 for all these three longhouses.
SDMC has also lifted the EMCO, effective at 11.59pm today, for Rh Lanchum in Kampung Tenggang in Pantu, Sri Aman as well as the workers’ quarters of Suajaya Crop Mahir Sdn Bhd plantation in Tatau. — DayakDaily
