KUCHING, Jan 16: Police have recorded statements from 21 witnesses as post-mortem examinations confirmed that a husband and wife found dead at Taman Mutiara, Sri Aman, died from stab wounds, with the male victim sustaining 11 injuries caused by a sharp object, police said today.
In a statement, Sarawak police commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said investigations into the double death involving the married couple are still ongoing and are being conducted in a thorough and detailed manner.
He said post-mortem examinations on both victims were carried out on Jan 15, 2026, at the Forensic Department of Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) by a pathologist.
“The post-mortem on the male victim found 11 injuries caused by a sharp object involving the neck and chest. The cause of death was confirmed as neck and chest injuries due to stab wounds,” he said in a statement.
He added that the post-mortem on the female victim revealed stab wounds to the neck, with the cause of death confirmed as neck injury due to stab wounds.
Zainal said the 21 witnesses whose statements have been recorded comprise family members, neighbours, and the victims’ co-workers.
However, he said the motive behind the incident has yet to be fully determined, as investigations are still ongoing.
He stressed that the investigation is being carried out professionally and transparently, based on forensic evidence and witness statements.
Police have advised the public not to speculate on the case, as doing so could interfere with investigations, and to respect the privacy of the victims’ family during this period. — DayakDaily
