KUCHING, Sept 3: Sarawak Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, announced the State-level Malaysia Day 2024 celebration will be in Sri Aman Division.
The celebration will feature four main events from Sept 14 to 16.
The main event will start with an interfaith thanksgiving ceremony and prayer on Sept 14 at 11am at the Sri Aman Civic Centre.
Sagah, who is the minister-in-charge of the Sarawak-level Malaysia Day Celebration, stated that it would be followed by the Love Malaysian Concert—Segulai Sejalai in the evening on Sept 14 starting at 8pm at Sri Aman Waterfront.
“There is a thanksgiving prayer ceremony on Sept 15 at 5.30pm at Bandar Sri Aman Mosque and Malaysia Day Assembly on Sept 16 starting at 10am at the Sri Aman Indoor Stadium Sports Complex,” he highlighted.
He said this during a press conference on the State-Level Malaysia Day Celebration at Wisma SADA, according to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) news report today.
Meanwhile, Sagah further revealed that Sarawak Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi will also attend the event together with Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, members of the Sarawak Cabinet and other distinguished guests.
“To enliven the celebration, members of the public will be entertained by local performers that include Sri Aman Busker, D’Jaksa Band and cultural performances by Anak Seni Benak who would present diverse ethnic dances of our country.
“In addition, guest artist and singer Hafiz Suip will also perform together with local artists representing various ethnicities, such as Ricky El, Karen Libau, Roxy Ixzy, Eddie Kuwing, Harris Mukhriz and Raquel Then Xi Ya,” he explained.
The State-level Malaysia Day 2024 Celebration will be broadcast live on TVS (Channel 122 on Astro, and MyTV, as well as on Ukas’ Facebook page and YouTube channel.
Also present at the press conference were Sarawak’s Deputy Minister of International Trade, Industry and Investment, Datuk Malcolm Mussen Lamoh, Acting Resident of Sri Aman Division, Mahra Salleh, Director of Sarawak Protocol, Ceremonies and Event Management Unit (UPPANS) Hamdan Sharbini, Director of Ukas, Samuel Simon and other government officials. — DayakDaily
