KUCHING, Feb 20: The search for a young man in Betong who was feared to have drowned after the speedboat he was testing capsized at TR Siti Tisak, Ulu Sungai Skrang in Betong came to an end as his body was found on the third day of the search and rescue (SAR) operation today.
According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the victim was found at 10.50am, about 15km from the SAR command post, and his identity was confirmed by family members.
The victim, 20-year-old Denickles Lesen, was conducting a speedboat test at around 3.51pm when the boat capsized.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that he struggled in the water before disappearing from view.
The body was handed over to the police and transported to Sri Aman Hospital. — DayakDaily
