KUCHING, Feb 23: The Sarawak Cabinet today has approved the setting up of a board of trustees named ‘Lembaga Amanah Kebajikan Regimen Askar Wataniah Sarawak’ (LAKRAWS) to administer and manage the welfare of our territorial army in Sarawak.

In revealing this, the Minister of Women, Early Childhood And Community Well-being Development, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said that a government committee had decided that this trustee be established to ensure that any grants and contributions would be well managed.

“LAKRAWS aims to help and assist in the well-being of all the officers and staff of the territorial army regiment,” she said.

She told reporters this today at a press conference held in the lobby of Wisma Bapa Malaysia.

Fatimah revealed that the State Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, was appointed the first board chairman of the trustee.

She added that the fund for the charitable trust comes from all sources, and LAKRAWS would manage it.

“Since it is a charitable trust, we urge people and all parties to contribute to the welfare for the well-being of our territorial army,” she said. — DayakDaily
