KUCHING, Dec 30: The recently released Petronas Outlook 2022-2024 provides ample opportunities for Sarawak contractors involved in the oil and gas industry, said Speca president Datuk Abdul Rahman Lariwoo.

According to Abdul Rahman, Speca hopes that the local contractors will be ready to grab all the chances that are available for them.

“Speca also would like to see that Sarawak will have its own supply base by next year.

“This will enable more local companies to be involved in offshore construction and maintenance works,” he said in a statement today.

Abdul Rahman noted that Speca has also carried out a lot of initiatives and received good response from stakeholders, namely Petronas, Petros, PTTEP, SEDC Energy, including Petra-Uzma.

He said all (stakeholders) have committed to giving priority to local contractors in awarding contracts in Sarawak.

“We hope to see more local companies awarded contracts in the coming years,” he added.

On Dec 28, Petronas released its annual Petronas Activity Outlook (PAO) for 2022-2024 which provides insights into industry trends, demand outlook and the upcoming activities of the company’s upstream, gas, new energy and downstream businesses.

Meanwhile, Abdul Rahman conveyed the association’s commendation to the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government on the landslide victory in recently concluded 12th Sarawak Election.

“Its shows that Sarawakians fully support the GPS government led by our Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg,” he said. — DayakDaily
