KUCHING, May 10: Are Ba’kelalan assemblyman Baru Bian and Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How joining opposition Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB)?
State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar claimed that there are two assemblymen formerly with Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) who are seen to be in close contact with PSB.
“Two of the former PKR members are in close proximity with PSB, bolstering the member of PSB from four to six.
“Once it is established that PSB has six members, this catapults the party to rank pari passu with Democratic Action Party (DAP), leaving the seat of the leader of the opposition in the House to become an open question,” he told a press conference to announce the one-day DUN sitting agenda.
At present, PSB has four elected representatives, namely Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh (Bawang Assan), Datuk Ranum Mina (Opar), Johnical Rayong Ngipa (Engkilili) and Datuk Tiong Thai King (Dudong).
It has been reported that Baru was attracted to PSB’s vision and mission, while See is looking for a new party after being sacked by PKR recently.
“The one-day DUN sitting tomorrow (May 11) is to allow for the tabling of the supplementary budget by the state government and to comply with the Standing Order of the DUN, which requires one meeting to be held within a period of six months.
“Fortunately, the chambers of the Dewan is spacious enough to allow and accommodate political distancing between the government and the opposition,” he said. — DayakDaily
