SPA joins call for taking Zakir to task

KUCHING, Aug 16: Sarawak Patriots Association (SPA) has joined the call for Zakir Naik to be investigated, charged or deported from Malaysia.

Recently Zakir Naik had made various statements which had caused much controversy and unrest among Malaysians in particularly his statement which suggests Chinese expulsion from Malaysia.

“Zakir should be kept in check by the relevant authorities. He has made statements which are seditious knowingly that such statements would cause racial instability and tensions.

“We appreciate that the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government practices freedom of speech which is a constitutional right guaranteed under Article 10 of the Federal Constitution provided there is no abuse of this freedom to harm others.

“However, Zakir’s statements have obviously crossed the line,” SPA secretary David Hii said in a statement today.

SPA calls for swift action to be taken against Zakir because there is no room for racism in the Malaysia Baru and salutes the Sarawak government for maintaining the immigration ban against him.

“Our government has shown that Sarawakians’ multi-racial spirit is stronger than ever.

“The Sarawak people which comprises of different ethic and races have lived together peacefully in peace and harmony.”

He stressed that Sarawak does not need such irresponsible people and irresponsible statements to disrupt the way of life here. — DayakDaily
