Song classified as Covid-19 red zone, 5 green zones remain in Sarawak

KUCHING, Aug 20: Song district is now a Covid-19 red zone once more today, as Kanowit improved its status and is now classified as an orange zone.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said in the past 14 days, a total of 41 local infection cases were recorded in Song, which reverted the district from its orange zone status to a Covid-19 red zone.

For Kanowit, the district improved its status from a red zone to orange zone status with only 33 local infection cases reported in the last two-weeks, while no changes were reported involving the districts with the yellow and green zone status.


As of today, the 24 districts classified as red zones are Song, Belaga, Kapit, Pusa, Betong, Tebedu, Dalat, Selangau, Sri Aman, Kabong, Asajaya, Subis, Mukah, Simunjan, Tatau, Lundu, Saratok, Bau, Samarahan, Serian, Kuching, Bintulu, Miri and Sibu, while three districts namely Kanowit, Beluru and Meradong are orange zones.

Eight districts, namely Bukit Mabong, Lubok Antu, Telang Usan, Sarikei, Pakan, Sebauh, Julau, including Lawas, maintained with their respective yellow zone status, while five other districts namely Tanjung Manis, Daro, Matu, Marudi, and Limbang are green zones.

Districts classified as red zones are the districts that recorded more than 40 local infection cases in the past 14-days, followed by the orange zone status with between 21 to 40 cases reported, while districts listed in the yellow zone status are those with less than 20 cases reported. For the district to be listed as a green zone, it must have zero new cases reported in the last two-weeks. — DayakDaily
