KUCHING, Dec 4: National party Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) has decided to support Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the coming 12th Sarawak Election (PRN12), says its deputy president Larry Sng.

He said this is following discussions and a consensus reached between the Sarawak leaders within PBM.

Sng, who is also Julau MP, said PBM’s intention has already been made known to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg during his recent visit to Julau.

“I have conveyed our (PBM’s) position to YAB CM when he was in Julau recently and to the two GPS candidates for Meluan and Pakan of our position.

“I am confident that with their good track record, they will both win by a larger majority this time around,” he said on social media today.

Meluan, under GPS, will be contested by Rolland Duat Jubin and Pakan by William Ikom.

PBM, a Malaysia-wide political party that was approved by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) on Oct 27, was previously known as Sarawak Workers’ Party (SWP).

Earlier on Nov 21, former SWP president Engga Unchat announced his resignation and two days later on Nov 23, Mohamad Sukri Yusri was revealed as the president of PBM.

The new line-up also included senior vice-president Steven Choong who is also Tebrau MP, as well as supreme council members Engga Unchat and Lavenia Mawas, who was the secretary-general of SWP.

PBM currently has two elected Members of Parliament (MPs). — Dayakdaily
