SnappEd, Seed and Kompia House win Tegas Pre-Accelerator Bootcamp 2021

KUCHING, Aug 8: SnappEd, Seed and Kompia House emerged as the three top winners at the fourth Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (Tegas) Pre-Accelerator Bootcamp yesterday (Aug 7).

Each of the startups received packages which include RM5,000 from Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (Magic), company incorporation support worth RM4,000 from Tegas, six-month access to FutureLab’s mentorship platform and three-month free co-working access to Tegas Digital Innovation Hub (TDIH) in Kuching, Bintulu and Miri.

Tegas, in a statement today, said the recently concluded programme with a virtual demo day witnessed 10 out of the 20 startups participated in the one-week bootcamp.

“The startups pitched their business ideas to a group of judges, potential early-stage investors, state and federal governments and funding agencies as well as Tegas ecosystem partners,” it said.

As for Magic’s Honorary Award Category, Moredoor Interactive Sdn Bhd and WAT Academy received RM2,500 each.

Meanwhile, the rest of the startups who participated in the Virtual Demo Day, namely Clifton Food Asia, GoPasar, Blankskript Consultants Sdn Bhd, Ben Raz Millions Resources Sdn Bhd and Icarus GrowthLab (IGL), received RM1,000 each from Magic.

The statement added that during the one-week virtual programme, all participating startups were facilitated and mentored by industry experts and seasoned entrepreneurs, from validating their business ideas to creating a go-to-market strategy.

Startups were given a chance to access a pool of mentors such as FutureLab chief executive officer (CEO) Brian Tan, Biji-Biji Initiative and Me.reka Group CEO Rashvin Pal Singh, RunCloud CEO and co-founder Arif Tukiman, Mindswitch founder Zaharah Malim, CentaCube managing director Sharifah Rafidah, FinTech Association of Malaysia president Karen Puah, pitchIN co-founder and CEO Sam Shafie, Fave co-founder Yeoh Chen Chow, Borneo Digital co-founder A.R Mohd. and Aerodyne Group chief product officer Razwan Zakaria.

Tegas chairman Datu Len Talif Salleh who is also the Assistant Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment, said he was very proud of all the 20 participating startups.

“Their participation truly reflects the capability and potential of our startups in driving Sarawak’s economic growth.

“Thank you to our programme partners and sponsors, Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC), Magic, FutureLab, Amazon Web Services, GRAB, Borneo Digital and all our ecosystem partners for their contribution in building the State’s innovation entrepreneurship ecosystem,” he said.

At the same time, Magic acting CEO Amiruddin Abdul Shukor said they are honoured to be part of the movement in empowering innovations in the next generations of startups.

“This partnership between Magic and Tegas is a cross coordination between two unique agencies that believe in the transformative power of young entrepreneurs that are guided by the altruistic compasses.
