Smuggling of 3 Bangladesh nationals’ case transferred to High Court

KUCHING, May 15: A 46-year-old driver was charged in the Sessions Court, here, today with smuggling three Bangladesh nationals, but no plea was taken as the case has been transferred to the High Court.

Accused Suhaini Toni, 46, was allegedly found smuggling Simon Khan, 32, Atikur Rahman, 22 and Mohammad Faruk Hossain 29 at the Departure Hall, Gate 9, of the Kuching International Airport at about 8pm on May 4 this year.

He was charged under Section 26A of the Anti-Trafficking in Person and Anti Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 and punishable under the same Section of the same Act, which carries an imprisonment term not exceeding 15 years and shall also be liable to a fine or both, upon conviction.
