KUCHING, Sept 27: SMK St Mary here has received eight new sets of computers which will improve the learning environment for students.

Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii who handed over the equipment said it included desktop computers, monitors, keyboards, Internet routers and printers.

“With the everchanging environment of education, technology, ICT and even Internet, it is getting more and more important to provide a holistic environment for learning for each student.

“However, not every student can afford such equipment and if this issue is not dealt with properly, what it does is that it may widen the education gap between the rich and the poor,” he said in a statement today.

Dr Yii said the new computers will also help the students to finish tasks or assignments which require a computer or even search for needed information online.

“I hope that as the school’s Internet centre is set up, it can help the students meet their learning needs [so they can] fully benefit from the facilities provided,” he added. — DayakDaily
