KUCHING, Sept 10: A new secondary school will be built soon in Balingian to facilitate the local population.

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi said the tender for the project to build SMK Balingian was issued by the Ministry of Education (MoE) on Sept 8.

“As such, I would like to thanks the government and MoE for realising the dreams and aspirations of the people of Balingian,” he said on Wednesday.

He added that upon the completion of SMK Balingian, it will make it easier for the local residents to send their children to secondary school, as the nearest secondary school is located in Mukah area, which is about an hours travel from Balingian.

The SMK Balingian project involves a construction of a school building with 24 classrooms, together with a hostel that can accommodate about 400 students.

The construction will include related facilities, and will be located in Lot 11, Block 3, Balingian Land District. — DayakDaily
