SMA to set up Internet centre for Kg Lubok Punggor in Gedong

GEDONG, Dec 16: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has instructed Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) to set up an Internet centre in Kampung Lubok Punggor.

Abang Johari, who is also the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate for N26 Gedong said providing Internet services is one of the government’s agenda and priority because they are a necessity nowadays.


“I have asked SMA to provide an Internet centre for this area as well. It is not just for mobile phone usage, paying bills, and business, but also for online learning. Hence, our schools and villages in rural areas must be equipped with connectivity.”

“It is the Sarawak government under GPS’s commitment to bring transformation to the rural areas. With digital development, it will boost the economy, tourism and education for the people here,” he said at the launch of a rural water supply upgrade project at Kampung Lubok Punggor here today.

Abang Johari emphasised the importance of connectivity and the digital economy, citing activities such as modern agriculture, online marketing and the need to foster creative and innovative entrepreneurs.

This he said, will develop not only Gedong but the whole of Sarawak. — DayakDaily
