KUCHING, Sept 1: SMA together with Azam Sarawak have launched a campaign on navigating the new normal with digital technology across various radio stations in efforts to empower and prepare Sarawakians against the economic fallouot resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic.
The campaign to be broadcast in Malay, Chinese and Iban languages kicked off on Aug 21 and is aimed at highlighting the digital initiatives implemented by SMA to enable people to transition to the new normal as Sarawak continues fighting Covid-19.
Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) general manager Dr Zaidi Razak said it was timely to work on this formative radio awareness campaign so as to expound on the digital strategies to alleviate the impact of Covid-19 with Angkatan Zaman Mansang Sarawak (Azam Sarawak).
“The aim of this overall media campaign is to inform and educate members of the public on the Sarawak government’s plans and strategies to ‘normalise’ the new normal and thus accelerate digital adoption to bolster flagging or emerging economic sectors,” he said.
Dr Zaidi highlighted this when kicking off the first of the 13-week radio programme “Sembang Digital Normal Baru” on RTM’s Sarawak FM in a 30-minute special segment.
Azam Sarawak in a media release today emphasised that since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, governments worldwide have worked on curbing the spread of the disease, on top of deploying various strategies to revitalise and reshape a sustainable economy within the ‘New Normal’ framework.
In interviews with key decision makers and stakeholders from the public and private sectors as well as a host of vibrant programmes, listeners will learn how digital technology is defining people’s everyday lives in the new normal through the various strategies implemented by the Sarawak government through SMA across diverse sectors such as digital government, digital infrastructure, digital health, and e-commerce.
The public radio awareness campaign will be broadcast on the following media outlets — ‘Sembang Digital Normal Baru’ on Sarawak FM to be aired every Fridays starting Aug 21, from 9.30am to 9.45am; ‘Muzik berdepergh depergh’, ‘Elya Tanya’, and Community Service Announcements throughout August to November on ERA FM; Post-Covid-19 Digital Era on City Plus FM from September to October; and ‘Randau Digital Sarawak’ on CATS FM.
The campaign is the latest collaboration between SMA and Azam Sarawak after its statewide media campaigns such as “Bengkel Randau Digital” and “Randau Digital Sarawak” throughout 2018 and 2019 to create awareness and accelerate digital adoption among community, grassroots leaders, rural communities, youth and women.
