KUCHING, Dec 10: The RM100,000 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2025 upgrading works to address ageing infrastructure and improve safety at SK Satria Jaya have been fully completed.

Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap conducted a final inspection today together with officers from Kuching South City Council (MBKS) and the appointed contractor, Syahfuan Enterprise, to ensure the project meets the required standards.

The project, which was initiated at the school’s request to improve deteriorating facilities and create a safer, more conducive learning environment, involved a range of enhancements.

These included upgrading the badminton court, constructing a new gazebo, installing walkway roofing, repairing classrooms and replacing damaged fittings, as well as carrying out roof and toilet repairs. Fans and air-conditioning units were also installed to improve comfort for students and teachers.

“The parents, teachers and school community raised these concerns directly with me. I listened, secured the funding, and today I came back to verify that the work has indeed been completed properly. This is how public service should function — listen, act, and follow through until the job is done,” Yap said in a media release.

He added that continuous engagement with schools and community institutions is essential to ensure public allocations are channelled effectively to benefit the people.

“Our children deserve safe, comfortable learning spaces. I will continue to push for more improvements and allocations where needed. A representative must not only show up during allocation handovers — we must come back to ensure the work is truly delivered,” he added.

Yap also expressed his appreciation to MBKS officers and the contractor for their cooperation and for completing the works as planned.

The final inspection marks the official conclusion of the SK Satria Jaya upgrading project and underscores Yap’s commitment to a hands-on, results-driven approach to community development. — DayakDaily
