SERIAN, Oct 9: The redevelopment of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kujang Mawang in Tebedu, Serian has been completed and officially handed over, marking a significant step in providing students with a safer, more comfortable, and conducive learning environment
The handover ceremony was officiated by Ministry of Education Malaysia’s Development Division chief assistant secretary Mohd Zahreen Mohd Zailani on Wednesday (Oct 8), in the presence of Serian District deputy education officer Nawi Razali, Sarawak Education Department representative Norhayati Hashmi, school’s headmistress Polia Nisoy and representatives from the contractor responsible for the project.
In a post on its official social media, Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak stated that the redevelopment project was carried out under the RM1 Billion Allocation (Phase 3) for the Proposal for the Redevelopment of Dilapidated Schools.

The construction include a three-storey administrative block and a four-storey classroom block, enabling the school to accommodate more students in a modern and well-organised learning environment.
A pre-school block was also built to provide dedicated space for early childhood education.
To enhance student comfort, the project added male and female dormitory blocks with a dining hall for daily use, along with three additional barrack-style blocks containing six units.
Supporting infrastructure includes a multi-storey water tank to secure clean water supply, three waste depots for systematic solid waste management, a guardhouse to strengthen school security, and modern drainage, electrical, and mechanical systems to support smooth daily operations.
“With the completion of this project, SK Kujang Mawang now offers improved educational facilities that align with the government’s commitment to bridging rural development gaps and enhancing the quality of education across Sarawak,” JKR Sarawak added. — DayakDaily
