KUCHING, Nov 27: Six development projects under the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA) worth a total of RM102.5 million have been approved for the Balingian constituency, Pantai Damai assemblyman Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi says.
“All projects are currently at the tender document preparation stage and are expected to begin implementation in stages starting next year,” Dr Abdul Rahman, who is also Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department, said in response to a question from Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi during the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) sitting today.
He explained that the approved projects span both the social and infrastructure sectors.
Four projects worth RM48.5 million were approved under the social sector:
- Upgrading of Taman Tanjung Pedada, Mukah into Tanjung Pedada Eco-Park (RM15 million)
- Renovation of Dataran Baru at Bederun Fairground, Mukah (RM10 million)
- Construction of Balingian Botanical Park (RM10 million)
- Establishment of the Balingian Agricultural Training Centre (RM13.5 million)
Two major projects amounting to RM54 million were approved under the infrastructure sector:
- Construction of Jalan SK Sungai Liuk/Kuala Balingian (Phase 3) (RM45 million)
- Conservation works at the Kampung Suyong riverbank (RM9 million)
He added that the implementing agencies for the RADDA projects in Balingian are the Dalat and Mukah District Council (MDDM), the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) and the Sarawak Irrigation and Drainage Department (DID). – DayakDaily
