KUCHING, Oct 12: Police received six reports against a Facebook account owner who allegedly invited Dayaks to support a gathering at Sibu Court on Oct 17.

According to Sarawak Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Dato Mancha Ata, two investigation papers have been open against the individual following the arrest and including confiscation of items.

“The suspect who is a local man, was arrested but has been released on police bail,” he told a press conference held at the Sarawak Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) at Jalan Badaruddin today.

He added that the case is being investigate under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1988.

On Sept 28, it was reported the police were investigating the owner of a Facebook account for allegedly encouraging rioting and inciting racial sentiments in Sarawak.

Meanwhile, Mancha advises members of the public to not be present to express support for those involved in the trial in Sibu.
