Six longhouse clusters identified including three under EMCO

KUCHING, Sept 13: Six community clusters were identified today involving longhouses residents in Sarikei, Sebauh, Pakan, Beluru, Limbang and Subis, with a total of 259 confirmed cases.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said three of the clusters were identified involving residents from longhouses which is under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) implementation.

For Sungai Sujan Mapok Cluster in Sebauh, it stemmed from a longhouse located in Sungai Sujan Mapok area, and out of 45 individual screened, 12 of them were found positive, including the index case, while 33 others are still pending test results, with 11 new cases reported today.


All positive cases were brought to the Bintulu hospital and Covid-19 low-risk treatment and quarantine centres (PKRC) in Bintulu for isolation and further treatement.

In Beluru, the Andi Liam Cluster were identified involving longhouse in located in Lepong Ajai area in Sungai Liam, and from the total of 104 individuals tested, 29 of them were positive including the index case, 57 others were negative, while 18 others are still waiting for their laboratory test results. Fifteen cases from the cluster were reported today.

In Subis, the Tinwar Keleku Cluster was detected involving a longhouse located in Sungai Keleku in Niah area, where out of 50 individuals screened so far, 34 were found positive for Covid-19 including the index case and including 19 new cases reported today, while three other individuals from the cluster are still waiting for their test results.

According to SDMC, all positive individuals from both Andi Liam Cluster and Tinwar Keleku Cluster were brought to Miri Hospital and the PKRC in Miri.

For Sungai Kerubong Cluster in Sarikei, involving residents from a longhouse located at Sungai Serubong in Selalang area, SDMC said out of the total 121 individuals screened, 96 of them were found positive including the index case, while 25 others were negative and one individual still waiting for test result.

For Sungai Dabai Cluster in Pakan, which involved residents from a longhouses located in Sungai Dabai area, out of the 63 individuals tested, 55 were found positive including the index case, seven others were negative, while one individual is still pending test result, with 52 new cases reported today.

The committee disclosed all positive cases from both Sungai Kerubong Cluster and Sungai Dabai Cluster were brought to Sarikei Hospital and the PKRC in the district.

While in Limbang, involving Pulau Brunei Cluster, SDMC said it involved residents from a longhouse located in Pulau Brunei area.

Out of 36 individuals screened, 33 of them including the index case were found positive, while three others were negative. A total of 20 new cases from the cluster were reported today.

All positive cases from this cluster were brought to Limbang Hospital and PKRC in the district. – DayakDaily
