Six injured in road collision along Jalan Bayong-Jakar, Sarikei

KUCHING, Jan 22: Six people were injured following a road collision along Jalan Bayong-Jakar in Sarikei, today.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre said they received a report regarding the incident from the Malaysia Emergency Rescue Services (EMRS) 999 at 7.54 am, and a team of 10 firefighters from Sarikei fire station led by PBK Haron Jenai was deployed to the scene.

“Operation commander reported the incident involved a sedan vehicle that collided with a sub-compact vehicle, which is coming from the same direction, heading towards Sarikei from Ulu Sarikei.


“The six victims, four from the sedan vehicle and two from the sub-compact vehicle, were rescued by members of the public and brought to the hospital before the arrival of firefighters,” it said in a statement today.

The statement noted firefighters then proceeded to conduct a “Size-Up” at the location and disconnected the battery cable from both vehicles to prevent any untoward incident.

“The case was handed over to the police for further investigation, and the operation ended at 8.41 am,” the statement added. –DayakDaily.
