KUCHING, Sept 27: Six individuals, three men and women aged between 18 and 44, were charged at the Magistrate’s Court here today, with trafficking 61 grammes of Methamphetamine.
The six individuals were arrested by a team of police narcotics from Padawan at around 8pm on Sept 17, 2019.
A gross weight of 61 grammes of substances, suspected to be Syabu, were found in a room of a house located in Jalan Kuching-Serian during the raid.
Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi adjourned the case to Nov 5 to monitor its progress.
The individuals were charged under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under Section 39B(2) of the same Act and be read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code, which carries a death penalty or life imprisonment.
If not sentenced to death, the accused are also punishable with whipping not less than 15 strokes.
