KUCHING, Nov 1: The recent visit by Seng Kang Secondary School from Singapore has placed the Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Sarawak (TEGAS) Digital Village (TDV) on the global map as a sought-after hub for digital learning and innovation.
A total of 35 students and five teachers from the Singaporean school, together with 15 students and six teachers from SK Abang Buyuk Jerijeh, Sarikei, explored Sarawak’s innovation ecosystem during their educational trip to TDV.
TEGAS chairman Datuk Len Talif Salleh said the visit marked another milestone in the ongoing collaboration between Sarawak and Singapore to nurture a young generation that is both digitally proficient and environmentally conscious.
“The continuation of this collaboration between Sarawak and Singapore in shaping a balanced young generation with environmental awareness and digital competency opens a new chapter in our partnership,” he said in a Facebook post (Oct 31).
He added that the initiative is in line with the shared aspirations of Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong, who have both emphasised the importance of environmental education and digital talent development for the next generation.
Earlier this year, TDV also hosted St Andrew Secondary School on Oct 28 and Telok Kurau Primary School on May 22, reinforcing its growing reputation as a preferred learning destination among Singaporean schools.
During the visit, students took part in hands-on STEM activities and explored interactive digital tools such as the Flight Simulator, Nex Playground, PlayStation 5, and Smart IQ Puzzle, all designed to spark curiosity and creativity.
Len Talif stressed that the exchange also provided valuable opportunities for cultural and academic interaction, fostering teamwork, innovation, and shared learning between students from both countries. — DayakDaily
