KUCHING, Oct 14: The upgrading of the Simpang Sagan to Ulu Lubai road, which is expected to boost connectivity between rural communities and Limbang town, is targeted for completion on June 12, 2027, with physical progress at 37.24 per cent as of Sept 25, against the scheduled 43.36 per cent.
Sarawak Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development Datuk Aidel Lariwoo said site clearing works had been completed, while earthworks were nearing completion.
“Upon completion, the project will improve connectivity between residents of Ulu Lubai and Limbang town, benefiting three schools, four longhouses and a clinic located along the road,” he said in response to Batu Danau assemblyman Dato Paulus Palu Gumbang during the question-and-answer session at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) sitting today.
He said drainage and culvert works were still ongoing, while piling works were being carried out for all four bridges under the Bukit Sagan/Nanga Merit/Ulu Lubai Road Upgrading Project in Batu Danau, Limbang Division.
Aidel said upgrading the existing gravel road to a paved road would provide safer and more comfortable journeys for residents.
He added that earth filling works to raise the road level were also expected to reduce recurring flooding, making daily travel and other activities easier for the local community. — DayakDaily
