MIRI, Jan 28: A one-off scholarship assistance for students furthering their studies under the Sibuti parliamentary constituency will continue to ease parents’ burden.

Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni urged parents in Sibuti areas to inform his service centre of their children intending to further their studies to benefit from the assistance.

“My Sibuti Service Centre is ready to help parents and students with the assistance.

“I will also continue to fight for the welfare of students in Sibuti so that they can have the comfort and best facilities, especially in rural areas,” he pledged, according to a news report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas).

He highlighted this during a gathering for the Chinese community in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration held at a hotel.

Lukanisman also pointed out that the needs of the Chinese community in the Sibuti parliamentary constituency will continue to be the priority of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government.

He called on the Chinese community to put their trust in the GPS government for the betterment and wellbeing of the people.

“Any shortcomings or issues raised in Sibuti areas can be forwarded to me.

“Moreover, I will do my best to improve any weaknesses because I believe the people have the right to advise elected representatives if there are shortcomings or things have been overlooked,” he said.

At the event, he also announced a RM5,000 grant for Chung Hua Bakam Kindergarten, Niah Methodist Kindergarten, Batu Niah Kindergarten, Niah Kindergarten, and Sibuti Kindergarten.

A grant of RM8,000 was also approved for SJKC Chung Hua Bakam, SJKC Chung Hua Lumut, SJKC Chung Hua Sibuti, SJKC Chee Mung, SJKC Chin Nam, and SJKC Tukau. — DayakDaily
