MIRI, July 3: The state government gave grants totalling RM200,000 to St Barnabas Church and Lambir Holy Trinity Church today.
St Barnabas Church was given RM50,000 and Lambir Holy Trinity Church got RM150,000 for their activities and projects.
Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni, who presented the cheques, said the grants were from the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor).
Lukanisman also pledged an additional government grant of RM5,000 each for both churches.
“Continue to strengthen your relationship with the community through church activities,” he said in his brief speech, and advised the people to channel whatever problems they might have to their elected representatives.
