Sibu’s cultural scene to shine: WAK Sibu Festival 2024 to be held from July 25-28

KUCHING, July 11: The vibrant cultural landscape of Sibu is set to come alive with the unveiling of the WAK Sibu Festival 2024 calendar, announced today at the Sibu Municipal Council Conference Room in Sibu.

The WAK Sibu Festival, running from July 25-28, promises a rich tapestry of events designed to celebrate and promote the diverse arts, culture, and lifestyle of Sibu, according to a press release.


Chairman of the Sibu Municipal Council, Cr Clarence Ting Ing Horh, officiated the WAK Sibu Festival 2024 Calendar Reveal event and expressed his enthusiasm for the festival’s potential to enhance the local cultural scene.

Among those present were the Festival Directors for WAK Festival 2024, Donald Tan and Marina Foo; representatives for WAK Festival 2024; and the councillors of the Sibu Municipal Council.

Festival Manager Brendan Chin provided a detailed briefing on the event’s lineup, which includes 17 unique activities proposed by local artists, performers, and enthusiasts. Key highlights include music performances, fashion shows, nature talks and exhibitions, arts and crafts exhibitions and cultural showcases.

As per the release, the festival aims to foster greater appreciation for arts and culture within the local community while attracting regional and international visitors.
