KUCHING, March 3: The Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) has clarified that the upgrading of the plank walk at Bukit Lima Nature Reserve in Sibu is already underway, dismissing claims that the project has yet to be addressed.

In a press release, SFC general manager Abang Arabi Abang Aimran emphasised that the renovations are part of a master plan designed to enhance visitor safety while preserving the park’s ecological integrity.

“The upgrading of the plank walk at Bukit Lima Nature Reserve is a priority for SFC. We are committed to ensuring that this project not only enhances visitor safety but also preserves the natural environment that makes this reserve so special,” he said, noting that the phased approach minimises disruption to both visitors and wildlife.

SFC has actively engaged with local communities and stakeholders to ensure the restoration meets safety and conservation standards.

“To ensure transparency and compliance with regulatory procedures, the first phase of the overall master plan has been tendered in accordance with established government procurement guidelines.

“The project is expected to be completed within this year, providing an enhanced and safer experience for visitors,” the release stated.

Reaffirming its commitment to conserving Totally Protected Areas (TPAs), including Bukit Lima Nature Reserve, SFC assured the public that infrastructure improvements are being carried out systematically.
