SERIAN, July 30: Siburan Community Hall will serve as the venue for the Project of Dreams Realised (Pro-DR) Roadshow 2025 on Aug 20, with 33 institutions and agencies set to participate in the initiative aimed at empowering rural students through education and career guidance.

Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Dr Jerip Susil said the event, marking its 10th series since its inception in 2015, seeks to expose secondary school students, particularly from rural communities, to opportunities in technical education and future career paths.

The programme is jointly organised with the Sarawak Education Department and Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (Tegas), with 24 booths to be set up by public and private institutions of higher learning, as well as private sector players.

“This programme is part of the Sarawak government’s ongoing efforts to engage rural youth and help them better understand the opportunities available in the digital and technical sectors,” he told a press conference today.

Dr Jerip, who is also Tegas deputy chairman, added that the roadshow will place special emphasis on technology and innovation, aiming to prepare youth for the demands of a digital economy.

The event will involve students from seven secondary schools, including SMK Siburan, SMK Padawan, SMK Tun Abdul Razak, SMK Sungai Tapang, SMK Muara Tuang, SMK Kota Samarahan, and SMK Penrissen, with more than 300 students expected to attend.

The Mambong assemblyman noted the success of previous Tegas initiatives, including the recent Sarawak Career and Training (SCaT) Fair which attracted around 30,000 attendees, mostly youths.

Also present at the press conference were Siburan district officer Ranum Bari, Tegas Community Innovative Learning Centre manager Mohammed Shafiee Edmund and senior executive Siti Zunaizah Zulkifli. — DayakDaily
