Sibu Jaya, Sentosa, Tiong Hua areas triggered 50% of Covid-19 infections in Sibu today

Sibu Jaya, Sentosa and Tiong Hua area contributed more than half of the cases in Sibu today-4/3/21

KUCHING, March 4: The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) disclosed Sibu Jaya, Sentosa and Tiong Hua area contributed to a total of 55 per cent of positive Covid-19 cases in Sibu as of today.

According to SDMC chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah, from the total of 73 cases reported in Sibu today, 70 per cent of the cases were detected through active case detection (ACD).


“A total of 1,698 samples were taken and 73 (4.3 per cent)of it are found positive,” he said during a press conference on State Covid-19 development update, held in the old State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building in Petra Jaya, today.

Uggah, who is also Deputy Chief Minister, noted out of the 73 cases reported, 54 of them involved individuals from ACD, followed by 12 cases involving the screening of symptomatic individuals in Sibu Health centre.

He said six of the cases are derived from individuals undergoing a Covid-19 screening test in Sibu Health centre.

“One other case was also reported to have involved a medical personnel in Sibu Healthcare facility,” he added. –DayakDaily.
