SIBU, Oct 26: Police are hunting for two men who allegedly stole RM301,231 from a car parked in Jalan Kampung Nyabor yesterday.
“One of the suspects smashed the victim’s car window using a hard object before fleeing with a bag which contained the money,” said Sibu district police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects followed the victim after the victim withdrew the money from a bank.
Upon parking, the suspect reportedly shattered the driver’s side window and took the bag placed on the front seat.
Efforts to track down the suspects are ongoing, aided by dashcam footage from the victim’s vehicle, said Zulkipli.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 379/427 of the Penal Code. If convicted, the suspects could face imprisonment, a fine, or both.
Zulkipli also advised the public to exercise caution when handling transactions at banks and avoid leaving valuables in plain view to prevent similar incidents.
Anyone with information on the case is encouraged to contact the nearest police station or reach out directly to the investigating officer, Inspector Muhd Syahmi Zahar, at 011-23148321. — DayakDaily
