Sibu clocks most MCO violators over past 24 hours

KUCHING, Apr 21: Sibu tops the state in daily Movement Control Order (MCO) arrests with 33 violators over the past 24 hours.

State Deputy Commissioner of Police Datuk Dev Kumar disclosed in a statement today that 93 violators were arrested for flouting the MCO up until 8 am today while 75 of them have been charged.

Of the figure, 33 violators were arrested in Sibu followed by Kuching (25); Simunjan (6); Miri (5); four each in Padawan, Saratok and Belaga; three each in Kota Samarahan, Limbang, Marudi; and one each in Bau, Kapit and Betong.


As for the breakdown of districts by the number of violators charged in court, Sibu topped the list with 17 people followed by Kuching (16); Padawan (8); six each in Lubok Antu and Sri Aman; Miri (5); Song (4); three each on Betong, Saratok, and Tatau; Bintulu (2) and one each in Julau and Limbang.

Since MCO was enforced on March 18, a total of 1,328 violators have been arrested while 668 have been charged in court. ā€”DayakDaily
