Sibu accounts for half of 14 new Covid-19 cases in Sarawak today

KUCHING, Jan 21: Sibu accounts for half of the 14 new Covid-19 cases registered in Sarawak today.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its daily update on the pandemic situation in Sarawak, reported that the latest figures pushed the overall State Covid-19 tally to 252,674.

With no Covid-19 fatalities reported, the State death toll remained unchanged at 1,620.

Apart from Sibu, which recorded seven cases, five other districts also registered new infections.

Bintulu and Selangau each have two cases, while Kuching, Kapit, and Limbang have one case each.

Of the new cases, there are five under Category 1 with no symptoms and eight under Category 2 with mild symptoms.

Currently, there are no active clusters in Sarawak.

Meanwhile, the police had issued 13 compounds in Kuching in the past 24 hours for various standard operating procedures (SOP) violations.

A total of 11 compounds were issued for failure to scan QR Code on MySejahtera or recording attendance before entering a premises, and one compound each for not wearing face masks and failing to prepare hand sanitiser at premises. — DayakDaily
