Shutterbugs, time to focus on the new DUN building and win handsome prizes

KUCHING, July 17: The Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) is holding photography, selfie and wefie contests for Malaysians and foreign visitors to share their unique pictures of the present State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building.

A total of RM42,300 in cash and trophies await the winners.

The contests are held in conjunction with the 150th DUN anniversary and will run from Aug 1 to 31 this year.


“The pictures should be of the new DUN Building located at Petra Jaya. Just take any best shots of our DUN, be it using camera, DSLR or mobile phone.

“However, pictures taken with drone and aerial views are not allowed,” said organising chairman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis.

There are three categories to vie for, namely:

(a) Photography (Point and Shoot camera and DSLR camera). It is divided into three sub-categories: Open, College or Higher Institution, and Secondary Schools.

For the Open category, the prizes are:
1st prize RM5,000 and trophy
2nd prize RM3,000 and trophy
3rd prize RM2,000 and trophy
20 consolation prizes of RM200 each

As for the College or Higher Institution category, the prizes are:
1st prize RM3,000 and trophy
2nd prize RM2,000 and trophy
3rd prize RM1,000 and trophy
20 consolation prizes of RM100 each

Winners under the Secondary Schools category can bring back;
1st prize RM1,000 and trophy
2nd prize RM800 and trophy
3rd prize RM50000 and trophy
20 consolation prizes of RM100 each

(b) Selfie (with mobile phone). This category is open to all, and the winners will bring back:
1st prize RM3,000 and trophy
2nd prize RM2,000 and trophy
3rd prize RM1,000 and trophy
20 consolation prizes of RM100 each

(c) Wefie (with mobile phone).This category is open to all, and the prizes are:
1st prize RM3,000 and trophy
2nd prize RM2,000 and trophy
3rd prize RM1,000 and trophy
20 consolation prizes of RM100 each

Harden said each participant could submit a maximum of three entries for each category. All pictures submitted must be in printed card copy and digital copy with the size of 8 inches x 12 inches.

“So pick up your camera and snap away for the best image of our DUN,” Harden said.
